1-DIN Minidisc Car Stereo Caddy Kit

A 3D Printed 1-DIN Caddy for your SONY MDX-C7900R, C7970R, C5970R, and other models with equivalent dimensions.
Two variants of the model are provided that change the backplate to include or exclude RCA stereo output, alongside a bill of materials and links to Amazon UK listings to help expedite your project.
A replacement bezel is also provided, as these are commonly broken, and are required to achieve a confident fit.
Print settings will depend on your printer. Support is generally not required. All ordered kits are printed on a Bambu X1C, using Elegoo Rapid-PETG in translucent, and will have natural variations.

3. Wiring and Assembly
As the colour-coding for the connections from the stereo may vary per model, these are not provided. However an example wiring diagram taken from a is also provided with purchase.
Soldering skill is required if buying the models alone. However pre-printed kits come with power and speaker terminals pre-soldered, connected to genuine WAGO 221 snap-fit connectors, allowing for a simpler push-fit assembly.
4. Usage Notes
Do NOT ignore the speaker ratings of the model of stereo in use if using the built-in speaker terminals. This may damage your stereo or the speakers it is powering. You should ensure the impedance of the speakers should either match or be higher than the impedance of the stereo.
- For example, it is safe to connect an 8Ω speaker, or a 4Ω speaker, to a 4Ω stereo.
- It is NOT safe to connect a 4Ω speaker to an 8Ω stereo - the stereo will likely overheat.
The built-in tuner antenna is not connected in any variant of the model at present. The underside of the caddy has an open gaps that can be used to position a self-supported antenna if required.
While possible to connect in such a way it can work - the car-battery-powered clock functionality of the car stereo is not factored into the design in any variation. Thus the clock will always reset to 00:00 on power-on.
5. Warranty and Returns
Models come with a limited warranty against cracks and damage. Ordered kits may be returned for any reason within 30 days of delivery, at the buyers' expense, provided all parts of the kit are in an unused, or reusable state.
Usage of the kit with stereo models not expressly listed as compatible, while certainly possible - is not encouraged or supported.
