Do these Korg Wavestation Performances ever shut up?
           =======================================================

19/11/96

This is my ninth (eek!) bank of patches uploaded to the net - the
first was BENS_WS3.ZIP and so on up to BENSWS11.ZIP. All data remains
the copyright of me (Ben Hall) - see below.

BENSWS11.SYX is a raw sysex format file containing some more of my
Wavestation sounds to add to your collections. There are 35
performances in this library, and all should work on any WS (ie the
WS, EX, A/D and SR).

The SoundDiver format library version of this bank is called
BENSWS11.LIB (the "Load" option in the WS memory manager is the
quickest way to load this file), and the midifile format version is
BENSWS11.MID. The SYX file is raw sysex data and needs to be
transmitted via the MIDI OUT to the WS.

They are addressed to RAM1, and should be transmitted to a WS on Midi
channel 1, using appropriate software.

* PC Users *
------------
For PC users, Cakewalk will load these files, or you can try one of
the two shareware WS editors (found in ftp.mcc.ac.uk in the directory
pub/music/emagic/SOUNDDIVER/LIBRARIES/Korg/Wavestation/WS_Editors/
amongst other places: these are WS Edit 1.c by Stefano Voulaz
<voulaz@IT.net> and Wavestat 4.0 by Mark Alands <alands@atcon.com>).

In addition there are various sysex programs around, try WinSysex,
Sysex95 or Dumpster for Windows that should do the job. Check the
popular Harmony Central web site: see
http://www.harmony-central.com/Software/Windows

* Mac Users *
-------------
Mac users can use Bulk Sysex 1.02 (it's around the net), or Galaxy and
Unisyn have SYX import drivers available if you use one of those
programs.

* Atari Users *
---------------
Atari users should use Dump-It! (contact me, or it's on
micros.hensa.ac.uk as well as other places) It's the only decent sysex
dumper that can handle bigg-ish dumps (ahem)

* Amiga Users *
---------------
I haven't a clue as to what sysex dumping software exists for the
Amiga. There is a utility with Bars'n'Pipes called Patchmeister that
does SYX file dumps (apparently). If you know of other similar
programs, drop me a line and let me know...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course most sequencers will read and transmit the midifile versions
of the bank, so these may be more convenient.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All of my other WS sounds (and other banks besides) can be found in
ftp.mcc.ac.uk pub/music/emagic/SOUNDDIVER/LIBRARIES/Korg/Wavestation/
in Diver/, Midifiles/ and Syx/ directories, and also on the Trading
Post on the web in sysex format. There are also floating around other
sites here and there...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Wavestation mailing list is back up again (yay!) at a new address:

                    wavestation@cloudfactory.org

To subscribe, send a mail to majordomo@cloudfactory.org with the body
text "subscribe wavestation", or "subscribe wavestation-digest"
(without the quotes). Come join the fun!

( ...and contribute to the WS Patch Archive... )
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully I will put on the net most of the patches I make (not enough
people do this, for mostly understandable reasons). If anyone has any
nice WS patches they want to bung in my direction, please do!

You are free to use these patches in any way you please, upload them
anywhere etc etc. All data is one hundred per cent original. I
virtually always start from initialised voices, and program directly
on the WS itself. Please keep this text file with the bank. This bank
is:
                      Copyright 1996 Ben Hall

If you use these or any of my other patches on any commercial
recordings, it'd be nice if you could drop me a line and tell me, or
better still, send me a free copy... :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

RAM-01 00 'Chrysalis *'

Breathy, long-ish release dark pad, with a high end
        tinkley-ish sheen. A bit Babylon 5, I suppose...

RAM-01 01 'Glassics *'

        Mettalic pad sound.

RAM-01 02 'VS Lead *'
RAM-01 03 'VS Mallet *'

These two performances are intended to show off the
Wavestation's VS waveforms. Move the mod wheel slowly and the
sound steps through the different VS waves. The lead patch has
a lead-type envelope, and the mallet patch is move of a
        percussivey sound.

RAM-01 04 'Wussy Bass *'

A bass sound. Mod wheel changes EQ.

RAM-01 05 'Wussy Bass 2 *'

A(nother) bass sound. Mod wheel changes EQ.

RAM-01 06 'Jam 12 *'

        Wave-sequency stringy sequence.

RAM-01 07 'Delicates *'

Nice playable pad, another of my faves, with a bit of subtle
        motion.

RAM-01 08 'FreakShftr *'

Echoey bell harmonics. Requires waves and a wavesequence from
the Synth/Timeslice card, and hence will not work without one.

RAM-01 09 'Delicates 2 *'

        A variant on "Delicates".

RAM-01 10 'ZTT Trumpet *'

        Trumpet drenched in reverb.

RAM-01 11 'Delicates 3 *'

        A(nother) variant on "Delicates".

RAM-01 12 'CZ-101 Bass *'

        Digi-bass sound.

RAM-01 13 'CZ-101 *'

        Echoey digi-synth.

RAM-01 14 'CZ-3000 *'

        Another digi-synth sound.

RAM-01 15 'CZ Strings *'

        Thinnish wet digi-strings.

RAM-01 16 'CZ Strings 2 *'

        Fatter wet digi-strings.

RAM-01 17 'Metropolis *'
RAM-01 18 'Metropolis 2 *'
RAM-01 19 'Metropolis 3 *'

Bizarre gated noisescapes, with different effects between
performances. The joystick affects the gate pattern (8ths,
16ths and so on). Well nasty!

RAM-01 20 'Shameless *'
RAM-01 21 'Shameless 2 *'

Two synth sounds, a bit like the hook sound on Kate Bush's
"Running Up That Hill". Joystick Y affects the reverb balance
        on the second one.

RAM-01 22 'Nursery *'

Nice pad/e.piano sound. Mod wheel adds tremelo effect.

RAM-01 23 'Analog Bass 1 *'
RAM-01 24 'Analog Bass 2 *'
RAM-01 25 'Analog Bass 3 *'
RAM-01 26 'Analog Bass 4 *'
RAM-01 27 'Analog Bass 5 *'
RAM-01 28 'Analog Bass 6 *'
RAM-01 29 'Analog Bass 7 *'

Warm analog bass sound, with velocity routed subtley to the
filter. Different versions with different effects.

RAM-01 30 'Sliders *'

Effect sound that glides up and dissolves into a shimmering
        afterwash.

RAM-01 31 'Underworld *'

        Cavernous atmosphere.

RAM-01 32 'Topsy *'
RAM-01 33 'Topsy 2 *'

Two pads. Second one is an enhanced version of the first with
        a subtle motion wavesequence.

RAM-01 34 'Bluesolo *'

Mellow solo synth brass sound, with tons of reverb.

Hope you can find a use for 'em. Enjoy!
