It's been some time, but, yes, another bank arrives!
           =======================================================

20/07/99

This is my tenth bank of patches uploaded to the net - the first was
BENS_WS3.ZIP and so on up to BENSWS12.ZIP. All data remains the copyright
of me (Ben Hall) - see below.

BENSWS12.SYX is a raw sysex format file containing some more of my
Wavestation sounds to add to your collections. There are 28 performances
in this library, and all should work on any WS (ie the WS, EX, A/D and SR).

The SoundDiver format library version of this bank is called BENSWS12.LIB
(the "Load" option in the WS memory manager is the quickest way to load this
file), and the midifile format version is BENSWS12.MID. The SYX file is raw
sysex data and needs to be transmitted via the MIDI OUT to the WS.

They are addressed to RAM1, and should be transmitted to a WS on Midi channel
1, using appropriate software.

* Dumping Sysex files to your WS *
----------------------------------

You'll need some approriate software for your computer to dump the files
to your Wavestation - the computer will obviously need to have a MIDI
interface.

For compatible software for PC's, Macs, Atari's and Amiga's, check out
my Wavestation page which has links to the appropriate programs:

     http://www.seriously-productions.freeserve.co.uk/ws_new.htm

For WS editing and sound management, I recommend Emagic's SoundDiver.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course most sequencers will read and transmit the midifile versions
of the bank, so these may be more convenient.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have archived all my banks of sounds, in sysex, midifile and SoundDiver
formats, at this URL:

      http://www.seriously-productions.freeserve.co.uk/wavestation.htm

Any newly released banks will be uploaded here first.

There are also tons of copies of my banks floating around other sites all
over the net, as well (generally in just their sysex form).

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Wavestation mailing list is at the following address:

                    wavestation@cloudfactory.org

To subscribe, send a mail to majordomo@cloudfactory.org with the body text
"subscribe wavestation", or "subscribe wavestation-digest" (without the
quotes). Currently the list is rather dead. Come and liven it up!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

You are free to use these patches in any way you please, upload them anywhere
etc etc. Please keep this text file with the bank. This bank is:

                      Copyright 1999 Ben Hall

If you use these or any of my other patches on any commercial recordings,
it'd be nice if you could drop me a line and tell me, or better still,
send me a free copy... :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

RAM-01 00 'Builder *'

   Pitch-bending upwards wispy effects sound.

RAM-01 01 'Deadly Voyage *'

Single notes with lots of arpeggiated movement. As you fade in the mod
wheel slowly, a menacing drone note fades in, and the arpeggio bits fade
into a wash of reverb, so it becomes more like one note.

RAM-01 02 'Ye Olde Synthy*'

Digital synth sound with echoes. Mod wheel makes it wetter.

RAM-01 03 'Wet Jawdropper*'
RAM-01 04 'Wet Jawdroppr2*'
RAM-01 05 'Wet Jawdroppr3*'

These are a big deep single note digi-synth thing.

RAM-01 06 'Fairlite Chip1*'

   Short "thunky" sound.

RAM-01 07 'Floyd Dreams *'
RAM-01 08 'Floyd Dreams2 *'

These are for meandering backdrops, similar to some Pink Floyd
atmospheres. It consists of some radom warblings modulating a pad
through the vocoder. The mod wheel adjusts the sensitivity of the
vocoder, and also introduces a phasing effect which adds movement.
Floyd Dreams 2 is a little more noticable than the first one.

These patches sound best when run through a delay - there was not
enough effects processing to do this as well! - with the mod wheel
up just a bit to add a slow phase. Run it in the background and hold
a few notes down in the top-hald of the keyboard.

RAM-01 09 'Paddy Twee 4 *'

   Another trademark Ben pad sound.

RAM-01 10 'Arctica *'
RAM-01 11 'Arctica Lite *'
RAM-01 12 'Arctica Swirl *'

All variations on the same pad theme. Aftertouch opens the filter.

RAM-01 13 'The Celts *'

Lonely lead sound, very wet.

RAM-01 14 'Tektonese *'

Rythmic pad with bits. The mod wheel adjust some effects parameters,
and the Joystick X-axis enables you to separate the two main
   constituents of the sound.

RAM-01 15 'EZ Streets *'

   Nice, mellow sad pad/melodic lead.

RAM-01 16 'Moog + Korg *'

Split - bass in the left hand, rhythmic pad in the right.

RAM-01 17 'Dynovelores *'

Distorted sound. Velocity affects the tone.

RAM-01 18 'Log Drums *'

   Rythmic "drumming".

RAM-01 19 'Heavenly *'

   Breathy choir pad.

RAM-01 20 'Velvet *'

   Nice thick pad/synth sound.

RAM-01 21 'Anthemic *'
RAM-01 22 'Anthemic 2 *'

Big thick sound, ideally suited for those one-finger melodies in
yer average dance anthems. Anthemic 2 adds a compressor to make the
   sound more punchy.

RAM-01 23 'Accentric *'

Synth sound with an echo that's louder than the original note. This
can give interesting accents when playing arpeggios or chordal rythm
   parts.

RAM-01 24 'Fick Treekle *'

Very thick pad sound that uses quite a few oscillators.

RAM-01 25 'Parafilter *'

An experiment with the parametric EQ effect, where the keyboard controls
   the filter.

RAM-01 26 'Outer Worlds *'

   One-note atmosphere.

RAM-01 27 'Frankely *'

   Analogy-synth lead sound, with delay.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope you can find a use for 'em. Enjoy!
